avplayer - How to get timed metadata updates in an iOS app with Google Cast support -


i'm working on ios app google cast support. 1 of key features playing radio live streams , native player (i'm using avplayer) i'm able timed metadata stream, can update playing content while live stream being played. common feature can find in every media app. accomplish this, observe using kvo timedmetadata property of current item of avplayer instance, , filter info of keys interest me.

when load same stream in default receiver app of google cast, updates of status, volume... metadata info 1 created item before loading it, , can't find how timed metadata.

is there way implement this?

if need more metadata beyond provided default receiver, need implement own custom receiver. can start our reference receiver: https://github.com/googlecast/castreferenceplayer additional information can passed senders part of media update messages or can use own custom namespace.
