FTP users created in cPanel cannot log in -


i feel absolute numpty asking question, i've struggled literally years , still have no idea answer is.

basically have never been able log in new user i've created in cpanel > ftp accounts. consistent across several different domains , several different hosts, presumably issue me.

only go ahead , add new user, try , log in given information:

host: ftp.domain.com user: account@domain.com port: 21 protocol: ftp encryption: use explicit ftp on tls if available

i've tried using sftp; using plain ftp; using filezilla, coreftp , dreamweaver; setting start folder /public_html , /account; downloading , importing config files cpanel generates.

i have never had work me, not once. end using default ftp account, why i've never found answer issue.

the errors along lines of:

connection attempt failed "eai_noname - neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known"  no such host known  host not exist

i have searched extensively on topic, both today , in past , never found solution works.

can spot wth i'm doing wrong?

according error getting issue hostname. when setting account whm ftp.domain.com dns record might not have been created. cpanel > advanced zone editor check if have ftp.domain.com has record of server or not if not add ftp.domain.com dns.

sometimes encryption can cause issue not 1 have described. try following:

host: domain.com user: account@domain.com port: 21 protocol: ftp encryption: use plain ftp (insecure)
